Hi, I’m Sonia.
Seeking support is courageous & you don’t have to navigate things alone…
I offer relational, embodied Gestalt psychotherapy for adults. In person in West Toronto and online.
My Approach
My approach is warm and direct. I believe that therapy is a conversation between two people. I’ll stay curious with you and share what I notice. I’ll also slow things down when something important is happening.
My training is in relational, embodied Gestalt therapy. That means we pay attention to more than your story. We also notice what’s happening in you right now, in your body and in the room between us. I bring in somatic tools informed by my ongoing Somatic Experiencing® training. These help your nervous system learn the difference between real danger and the discomfort of something new or unknown.
Before becoming a psychotherapist, I spent ten years in social services. That reinforced the value of meeting people where they are, without judgment and without rushing.
Does this sound like you?
Maybe you’re in the middle of change, or longing for it. A job, a relationship, or a sense of direction that used to fit doesn’t quite fit anymore, and you’re not sure what comes next.
Maybe you’re carrying a family story that feels heavy or tangled, and you’re starting to wonder which parts are truly yours.
Maybe you’re very good at sensing what other people need. You can read a room in seconds. But when someone asks what you want, it’s hard to know, or hard to say.
Perhaps closeness feels complicated. You might go quiet to keep the peace, or brace when someone disagrees with you, as if difference might mean they’ll leave.
Maybe you feel a pull toward something more alive, but stepping into the unknown sets off an alarm inside. It’s hard to tell whether you’re in real danger or just somewhere new.
Or maybe you’ve never tried therapy, and you’re simply curious, or tired of doing it all alone.
If any of this resonates, you’re welcome here. There’s no right way to arrive, and there’s nothing to figure out before you do.
Together, we can slow down and get curious about what’s happening for you. We can notice how you’ve learned to cope, and honour the brilliance in how you already do. Little by little, we can make room for something new: staying with yourself while being in contact with others, and moving toward a life that feels like your own.
I think of this work as coming home to yourself, with someone by your side.
How I Can Support
Individual Therapy for Adults
Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief, or a life transition, individual sessions offer a steady, attuned space to explore what's here. We work at the pace of trust and your pace, with care, curiosity, and attention to both mind and body.
Support for Frontline Workers
With over 10 years in community mental health and addictions, I understand the weight of frontline work. I offer a space to process vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout, and to reconnect with your body, your boundaries, and what sustains you in caring for others.
Support for Gestalt Students
As a graduate of the Gestalt Institute of Toronto, I know how meaningful and stretching the training can be. I offer personal therapy and mentorship for GIT students as you integrate theory, experiential learning, and your own process.

A Bit About Me…
I'm Sonia (she/her), a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) based in West Toronto. I grew up here, in the Parkdale and Queen West neighbourhoods, as an only child with a half-brother far away in Argentina. My parents came from two different cultures, one of them an immigrant, and two languages were spoken in our home. Growing up between worlds taught me early that there's more than one way to see things, to belong, and to be a family. I've always been drawn to communities where belonging for everyone is deeply valued. That shapes who I am and how I practise.
I spent more than ten years in community mental health and addictions. That work taught me to meet people where they are, without judgment and without rushing. Along the way, I found a home in relational, embodied Gestalt therapy and trained at the Gestalt Institute of Toronto. I'm now continuing my training in Somatic Experiencing®, currently at the intermediate level.
I've also spent time in the client's chair, both during my training and through difficult seasons of my own life. Therapy helped me find the strength I always knew I had. It gave me a new appreciation for the intelligence of my emotions and the wisdom of my body. Both were trying to tell me something: to listen, to slow down, and to notice what I truly needed. I learned to trust those signals, and to support myself or reach out when I need it. Slowly, I learned how to stay with myself while staying close to others, instead of leaving myself behind to keep a connection.
I also learned that there are many ways to live and to heal. For change to feel meaningful and lasting, I needed to honour my own way of getting there, not someone else's. It rarely came from pushing myself to be different. More often, it came from being met fully as I was.
That experience is what drew me to this work. I bring the same respect for your agency and your own path into our sessions. It grounds my belief in the power of an attuned therapeutic relationship, and my commitment to a practice that is anti-oppressive, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed.
Outside the therapy room, you'll find me dancing, cycling around Toronto, or out on nature walks with friends. I'm happiest when I'm making something from nothing: crafting jewellery with beads, metal, and leather, tending my plants, or hunting for treasures at the thrift store. And there's nothing I love more than sharing a delicious meal with good company.

Therapy lasts as long as it's useful to you, and it doesn't have to be forever. Some people come for a few sessions to work through something specific. Others stay longer to go deeper. I recommend giving it a few sessions before you decide, because it can take a little time to settle in. As we go, trust yourself. You'll often sense when something is working and when it isn't, and we can talk openly about either.
